Third Time!

This lovely Amaryllis is blooming for the 3rd time. We got it from our friends Anna and Lennart in November last year when they where here visiting us.
First time there were two stalks with four flowers on each. Second time there were one stalk with four flowers, and this time there’s SIX flowers on one stalk.
Really amazing!

Yet an other funeral

Today I've been at a funeral…again. It was for an old friend, not close but anyhow a person, which we have known for about 30 years. Our kids went to Kindergarten and school together among other things.
I just wanted to show his wife and children my respect by showing up at the funeral. He must have been a very popular and dear person for many people, because there were about 125 persons in the church this afternoon, and there were flowers all over the church floor and also in many of the window recesses.
It was a very beautiful funeral with different speeches by the priest, some well known hymns and a couple of Swedish “dance band tracks” that G liked. Both the chanter and the women who sang the “tracks” are very talented, so it sounded very emotionally.
Religious is the least thing I am, so for me it’s bearable when it’s not to stiff and not to religious.

Funeral

Monday at 2 pm Julius Hagander’s funeral took place at Hov’s church. The ceremony was very nice and Julius two sons held a very nice speech together that was, of course, about their father’s long and very rich life. The speech was held in English because many of the attendees weren’t from Sweden, but the rest of the ceremony was held in Swedish.
After the church ceremony we all were invited to the restaurant out at Hovs Hallar for a memorial treat.
Julius was a great man, and he will be missed by lots and lots of people all over our Globe.

Bertil and I went to the church before the ceremony started. In that way I could take some pictures of all the beautiful flowers without any annoying clicks from my camera during the act.

I also took a lot of pictures after we had been at the restaurant.

At that time the church-warden had taken out all the flowers and put them at and around the family grave.

Two Great Men

Today it would have been my Dad's 85th birthday. Me and my sisters went home to our Mom this afternoon and celebrated him with flowers and a small birthday cake.

We all miss him very much.

Today we also got to know that our dear old friend Julius Hagander had passed away this last night after a short time of disease. He was born in 1925.

Bertil has known Julius all his life, and I since I meet Bertil in 1967.

Julius was a very nice, charming and caring man. He always had a smile on his face and he also was a very generous person.

Mine and Bertil's thoughts goes to his whole family a sad day like this. Julius will be missed by a great number of friends.

These pictures (it's a collage) were taken in Julius garden the 30th of June, 2008. Bertil and I was served up with coffee and cakes by Julius, and we had a nice couple of hours together .

Take care of each other out there! You only live once, and you will never know when it's your time to say goodbye to this life that have been given to you on your day of birth.

Up, up and away!

Last Wednesday, 24th, Bertil and I got the great honour to join with our friend Erik on an air crossing in his small Cessna 172 from 1950. It was actually one really, really pleasant experience. I had fortunately my camera with me, and I took approximately 285 pictures and here is a small selection from them.

He's back!

The Funny Little Man - "Gubben" - is back home again from his spa vacation. He's very colorful and good looking, so some weeks away from home has been very successful.

Dog and Worm have got a New Friend

Yes, my small unfailing garden friends have got a new little doggy friend. Don’t know her name. (I’ve decided that it’s a girl).
Can you please help me and my two “old” garden friends, Dog and Worm, to give her a nice name?
The Funny Little man (Gubben) is home with his creator (Anna) to be restored. He needs some new painting in his face. If I remembered it right, I think I told him that he would go on a long spa –and beauty vacation ;-)

What am I going to name Dog and Worm's new girl friend?

36th Wedding Anniversary - 2009

Yesterday, 17th of February, we were invited to our friends, Inger and Ingmar to celebrate our 36th mutual wedding anniversary.
Inger and Ingmar served up a very delicate dinner.
For starter we got prawn mousse.
The main course was a stew on wild boar and lots of other goodies.
For dessert Inger had made a crumble pie with pineapple, almond icing and on top of that a dollop of whipped cream.
Later in the evening we got coffee and “Budapest Gateau”.
Lots and lots of yummy food indeed =)
We had a very nice evening.

Two Lovely Days =)

Bertil and I have had our dear friends from Gothenburg, Anna and Lennart, here for a short visit, Wednesday afternoon to Friday noon. It has been two intense days with lots of talking and some sightseeing round the peninsula of Bjäre, Bjärehalvön, when the weather allowed it.

When our friends arrived on Wednesday afternoon we ate a whole mountain of shrimps/prawns that they had bought in Gothenburg before they drove down here to Skåne. The Swedish west coast is famous for its good and tasty shellfish. They had also two bottles of nice white wine with them, so we really had a very pleasant afternoon and evening that day ;-).

Yesterday it was raining the whole forenoon so at first we were out shopping in Boarp and then we went for a visit to my sister Mia. She and her husband Kenneth are farmers and they have a big cowstable with about 70 cows.
The cows are milked by a robot, so Anna and Lennart wanted to “explore” this machine and also look at the cows in the stable. It’s really very interesting to see how the cows are walking around in the stable entirely free. When they are hungry they walk to the milking robot, and there they get food meanwhile the robot is milking them. A very smart machine and very, very smart cows =)))

In the afternoon we got better weather. The sun was shining so we went down to a place called Burensvik near Torekov. Neither Bertil nor I had been there before, so it was a nice experience for us as well for Anna and Lennart. The nature is so beautiful this time of the year. The grass is so green and the air is clear and a bit cold.

Lennart is a little bit confused. We all were actually, because we couldn't figure out, at first, what this strange building was and what it had been used for. I suggested that it was some kind of shipyard. I'll try to find out if I'm right ;)

Supper for Four!

Yesterday evening we invited our neighbours, Linette and Bengt for a chat and a small supper. We have lived as neighbours for 36 (!) years, and this was the first time we really got together like this.
Bertil and Linette went to school together as children, so it’s not that we haven’t known each other. It just hasn’t become of!!!!
Of cores we have seen each other for a short chat and a cup of coffee now and then through the years, but that’s all.
We had a very nice evening with good food (if I may say so) cheese, wine and beer. Coffee and a good liqueur chocolate for dessert.
I really do hope that it not will take another 36 years before we get together like this again ;-)

...and here's what we ate...

My "You take what you have" pie without the shell since I try to not eat any flour products...

...and a good salad with lots of goodies.

Here are the ingredients in the pie:

About 200 gram, (7,0548 ounces), of shred turkey meat, shred leek - about 15 cm (5,91 inches), a tin with mushrooms - about 125 gram (4,4092 ounces) parboiled broccoli in small bouquet.

Put all these ingredients in a pie tin with some butter and then put it all in the oven (+200°C - +390°F) while you mix together the baked eggs (äggstanningen).

4 eggs, 3 deciliter (10,14 fluid ounces) whipping cream (not whipped), 4-5 tablespoons natural cream cheese, salt and pepper.Beat all these ingredients together and poor over the meat, leek, mushroom and broccoli filling.

Put the pie in the oven (same degrees as before) for about 15-20 minutes. Serve a good salad with it.
I had iceberg lettuce, small shard leaves, cucumber in thin slices (without the wet inside), small yellow plum tomatoes, fresh mushrooms in thin slices, a small peeled Clementine in thin slices and feta cheese in peaces.

I also had a good homemade dressing that included 2 dl (6,76 oz ) 15 % crème fraiche, about ½-1 dl (3,38 oz) whipping cream (not whipped) and some herbs (Knorr’s örtagårdskrydda, ca 2 tsk).

Don’t be afraid of all this fat. I’ve lost 14 kilograms, (30,86 lbs) with this kind of food (LCHF) ;-)
